About

I have always had a fascination with cameras and photography, ever since my father used to make homemade lens filters out of Pringles lids. I have since learned the beauty of natural light digital photography. I wish my dad were still around so he could see what I am doing now! I am also a graphic designer, and I am happy to put my brain to work designing logos, brochures and flyers for business clients.

I have always loved art and creativity. I started taking photos all the way back in elementary school just for the sake of memories, with crappy disposable cameras and film developed at Walgreen’s because that’s what I could do at the time. In the early 2000s, I got my first digital point and shoot camera for the same purpose of just documenting life as a newlywed and with friends. As a reward for a weight loss challenge, my hubby bought my first DSLR (Canon Rebel xSi) in 2007 and I started getting a little more “artsy” and learning from friends how to get out of full auto. When my daughter was born in May of 2008, I really started practicing A LOT! I was asked to shoot my first engagement and wedding for real dollars in 2010 and LOVED it. My son was born in Dec 2010 and I was ready to be at home more with my kids. I stuck with my “real” job until Fall 2011, until we felt called to make a few major changes in our lives, including not working “for the man” anymore and decided to start a business with my friend Jake. This was a HUGE leap of faith for both of us. Day Three Studios officially began on October 25th, 2011, as a full service media production team, including photography, video and graphic design. In April, Jake decided to strike out on his own to focus on video and began Crash Eleven Productions. So on May 1st, 2012, Day Three Studios became MY business. I have been blown away by its success and have no one to thank for that except God above and you here on earth who have believed in me and trusted me with your special moments.

Thank you. <3

PS I get asked a lot about the significance of the name “Day Three Studios” so here is the story. When Jake and I decided to start the business, he and his wife, Jessica, and my husband Marc, and I brainstormed for weeks trying to come up with a name. We had a difficult time finding something that we all loved and that actually had the url available. On a Wednesday, we gave ourselves three days to come up with a name and said “If, by the end of DAY THREE, we don’t have a name, maybe we shouldn’t do this…” Well, as soon as we said it, it kind of stuck and we spent the next three days trying to come up with something else we liked more and we just couldn’t. Being people who are trying to follow Jesus Christ, it was also significant to us that Jesus rose from the dead on DAY THREE, so it just felt right. We got to work designing the logo and website, and after we came up with the tree idea and agreed upon that, designed our little hearts out and then launched our business, one of us thought it would be cool to look back at God’s story of Creation from the Bible to see what was created on DAY THREE… it was the trees! So, just like that, Day Three Studios was born. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
